چکیده

Objectives: To identify the frequency and patterns of proximal femur fractures in a tertiary center Jordan to aid identification requirement orthopedic department assist future planning for founding country-based preventive treatment guidelines. Methods: This retrospective study reviewed 706 admitted from July 2018 December 2021 at King Hussein Medical City Amman, capital Jordan. Fractures were assessed concerning age, gender, mechanism injury variation over years. Results: Proximal femoral account one-fifth all hospital admissions. Females represented most patients (60.9%) left side was affected (52.1%). Intertrochanteric common, followed by intracapsular neck; both accounted about 90% fractures. Patients with neck are ten years younger than intertrochanteric group. Falling floor common cause. occur elderly mean age 70.81 (±18.97). However, head hip dislocation young patients. We notice an annual increase number admissions. Conclusions: leading cause hospitalizations department. provides information on multicenter studies needed evaluate adequately, provide guidelines treating preventing these injuries determine our institute's supply needs.

Effects of Hip Geometry on Fracture Patterns of Proximal Femur

Background: Some studies have previously shown that geometry of proximal femur can affect the probability of fracture and type of fracture. It happens since the geometry of the proximal femur determines how a force is applied to its different parts. In this study, we have compared proximal femur’s geometric characteristics in femoral neck (FNF), intertrochanteric (ITF) and Subtrochanteric (ST...

[Proximal focal femoral deficiency complicated by a proximal femur fracture].

Proximal focal femoral deficiency (PFFD) is a rare skeletal condition characterized by development failure of the subtrochanteric region of the femoral axis, with several degrees of shortening of the proximal region. There are no case reports of patients with this condition associated with a subtrochanteric fracture. We therefore describe herein the case of a newborn patient with clinical and r...

0758 - Fatigue Fracture of the Proximal Femur

INTRODUCTION In the United States, there are over 300,000 hip fractures annually, resulting in over $13 billion in medical costs (1). About 90% of these have been reported to be the consequence of falls (1). The remaining 10% are thought to be the result of fatigue of the bone tissue (spontaneous fracture). Repeated falls may increase fracture risk by affecting the integrity of the bone tissue;...
